• Tail: Red Duck Quill Fibers
• Tag: White Floss
• Body: Orange Floss
• Hackle: Orange or Furnace Hackle (throat)
• Wing: Married - Orange, Black, White

RWFF Tying Tip

To make the married wing, start with natural duck wing, color to orange, add a black saddle tip, then a white duck wing.

HISTORY

It appears the Trout Fin fly was developed entirely independently by Robert H. Cavanagh, Jr., of Woburn, Massachusetts, and by the Gulline Brothers, Montreal, Canada. The time seems to be the 1920s.
