HISTORY
The Green Highlander is one of the most recognizable of the true classic salmon flies. It was designed by
Major Grant in the late 19th century. When designing the Green Highlander there is little doubt that Major
Grant was influnced by another pattern of the time, the Highlander, but it is the Green Highlander that has
been written about by many of the tiers of old. Tiers such as Dr. Pryce-Tannatt, George M. Kelson, John James
Hardy and Major John Henry Hale all wrote about the Green Highlander.
