Stayton – Mike, 50,
passed away Monday in Stayton. He was born in Seattle, WA to
Robert A. Crook and LeeAnne E. Banks. His
family moved to Alaska when Mike was a young boy and that is
where he spent most of his formative years. Mike graduated from
Tigard High School where he was actively involved in stage
acting and directing plays. After graduating, Mike’s heart led
him back to Alaska where he spent many years in the commercial
fishing and crabbing industry, constructing native housing and
other construction jobs.
He was and avid hunter
and fisherman, he loved spending time dog sledding,
snowmobiling, and traveling around much of Alaska. Mike moved
back to Oregon in the mid 1980’s where he worked as a welder
for Monaco Motor Coach for eight years. He also worked for St.
Vincent de Paul as a landscaper and apartment manager. He was a
member of the Salem RC Pilots Association and spent the last two
years actively involved in that hobby.
Mike enjoyed traveling
wherever he could go, camping, hunting, fishing, spending time
with his family and helping others. Mike will be missed by all
of us that love him.
Mike is survived by
his Domestic Partner: Julie McClenny of Stayton, Father: Robert
Crook of LaPine; Sisters: Cathy Benoit of Monticello, Miss., and
Karen Bedard of Reedsport; Brother: Steve Crook of Eugene and
sons: Kegan and Mackenzie. Step-sons: Colby McClenny of Eugene
and Guthrie McClenny of Cottage Grove. Step-daughter: Ashley
Hackett of Wahiawa, HI. 4 nieces and 2 nephews and 3
grandchildren. A celebration of life for Mike will be held at a later date to
