Frank Wayne Blair

June 7, 1933 - June 16, 2009

The middle child of five born to Clide and Delia Mabry Blair, Frank was born June 7, 1933, in Mitchell, Oklahoma.  When farming became unprofitable, the Blair family moved to the San Joaquin Valley of California to harvest fruit.  At the age of 17, Frank and his older brother, Jack, moved to the Willamette Valley, settling in Stayton, Oregon.  It was there that Frank met Glenda Tierce, his wife of 58 years.

With their three children, Frank and Glenda owned and operated a farm near Stayton, raising a variety of crops.  A life-long passion was born in Frank when their oldest son raised a black angus cow for a high school FFA project.  Within just a few years, the Blair family had procured a large heard of registered Black Angus cattle.  Only when he could no longer lift a bale of hay did Frank agree to sell his beloved cows.

His long battle with a heart condition and other serious health problems demonstrated what a strong and tireless man Frank was.

No one will miss Papa more than his grandson, Ian Howard.  They had a special bond that no amount of time or distance can weaken.

Frank is survived by his wife, Glenda; sons, Terry (Soap Lake, WA) and Mickey (Salem, OR); daughter, Jan Johnson (Turner, OR); brother, Jack (Salem, OR); and sister, Rosie Dannelly, (Van Vleck, Texas); 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Church of God Seventh Day 7478 Stayton Rd SE Turner. Contributions may be made to the church or the Humane Society. Serving the family North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
