M. Wayne Goin
August 9, 1928 – March 22, 2009

 

Sublimity – Wayne, 80, died Sunday in Stayton. He was born in Primrose, NE. moving to the Albany area in 1941. Wayne’s job took him many places throughout the Northwest and he retired to Sublimity 10 years ago. He worked  for Pacific Power and Light for 42 years and retired as Vice President.

Wayne was a leader in civic affairs, and a member of numerous clubs, including the Shriners. He served as president of the Timber Carnival, in 1959, the inaugural year it was held at Timberlinn Park. Wayne helped to organize the White water challenge in Mill City, while living in Stayton.  He was a musician and singer in his youth and a member of the Kalapooia Kids a country western band. Wayne enjoyed woodworking, poetry, and soaring with the eagles at Cedars Ranch.

He married Mae Belle Borders on June 26, 1948 in Albany. Wayne is survived by his wife; Sons & daughters-in-law: Daren L. & Sharon Goin, DMD of Sublimity, John W. & Barbara Goin of Olympia, WA., Gary R. & Anita Goin, MD of Olympia, WA.; Daughters: Bonnie J. Goin, RN of Vancouver, WA. And Joyce L. & Bill Goin-Patty of Stayton; Brother: Owen Goin of Eugene; Sisters: June Grice of Scio and Phyllis Fisher of Longview, WA.;  14 – Grandchildren and 6 – Great-grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Stayton Christian Church 189 E. Washington St. Stayton. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
