Aumsville – David,
66, died Saturday in Salem. He was born in Silverton and lived
in the Aumsville area all of his life. David graduated from
Cascade High School in 1962. He served in the Army National
Guard during the Vietnam War. David worked as a Millwright for
over 30 years, the last at Professional Mechanical of Albany. He
was proprietor of Dave’s Auto and Truck repair for over 30
years, which he was very proud of. David was a member of Keizer
Elks and Union Local #711. He loved stock car racing and was a
driver and car owner in the outlaw dirt class.
David enjoyed spending
time with his grandchildren and supporting them in their
endeavors. He married JoAnn Welter on October 24, 1964 in
Stayton. David is survived by his wife: JoAnn of Aumsville;
Daughters: Tracie Gower and her fiancé Paul of Aumsville, and
Tami Gower of Aumsville; Son: Travis Gower of Aumsville;
Brother: Larry Gower of Stayton; grandchildren:
Eli, Rebekah, Jared & Trever; and step-granddaughter;
Megan,. He was preceded in death by his son Todd
and brother, Mike.
A Celebration of Life
will be held Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Dave’s Auto
and Truck Repair Shop at 9175 Bates Rd SE Aumsville. Private
interment in St. Mary Cemetery, Stayton. Contributions may be
made to the Marion County Lamb and Wool Show Scholarship Fund.
