– LaVeda, 73, died Tuesday in Jefferson. She was born in
Brent, Oklahoma. LaVeda moved to Roseburg in 1956 from
California where she was on the Sheriffs posse at Hanford, CA.
She later moved to West Stayton in 1966 and since lived in the
Stayton, Aumsville and Jefferson area.
worked as a beautician for over 15 years. She also owned and
operated M & L Ceramics for over 10 years. LaVeda and her
husband were caretakers of Jefferson Cemetery for over 15 years.
She served on the board at Lakeside Assisted Living and was a
member of the Lakeside Pioneer Club. LaVeda enjoyed arts &
crafts, sketching, singing southern soul gospel, and playing
bingo. She was a very giving person who loved being with her
children and grandchildren. LaVeda was a member of the Turner
Church of God in Turner.
married Milton Jeffers on July 17, 1953 in California. LaVeda is
survived by her husband Milton of Stayton. Sons: Leslee Jeffers
of White City, Weslee (Dorothy) Jeffers of Canby, Cheslee
(Tammy) Jeffers of Keizer, Preslee (Teresa) Jeffers of Molalla,
and Bradlee (Fawnda) Jeffers of Jefferson; Step-daughter: Cindy
Kellogg of Washington; step-son: Terry Sanders of Aumsville;
Brother: Duane Vanderheiden of Hartford, Connecticut; 20 –
grandchildren and 18 -
Service will be Friday, August 7, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Turner
Church of God in Turner. Serving the family North
