Medina, Wash. –
Anita Elizabeth Russell-Zaser Passed away late Monday night,
August 24, after a short and brave battle with cancer.
She was born in Salem on February 29, 1952.
Anita grew up in Sublimity and attended St. Boniface
Elementary School, Regis High School and Stayton Union High
studying at Oregon State University, she attended Brooks
Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California
where she graduated in 1976.
Following her graduation, she had a successful career in
Los Angeles, and later relocated to Bellevue, Washington, a
suburb of Seattle and continued her professional career in
On May 5, 1984 Anita
married Greg Zaser, a native of Bellevue. They made their home in Medina, Washington where Anita focused much
of her time contributing to her community while continuing to
pursue her interests in photography.
Anita and Greg have two wonderful girls, Lauren, 19 and
Kelsey, 16. Having
been an extensive traveler in both the United States and abroad,
Anita had seen the world with her family.
Anita was an involved parent in her girls’ schools
where she volunteered regularly and throughout the community.
Through her involvement in both the schools and the
community, she built many friendships and touched the lives of

husband, Greg: and daughters, Lauren and Kelsey.
Her parents, Gene and Velma Russell, still live in
Sublimity along with her sister, Arlene (John) Bischoff, Dennis
(Kathy) Russell. Her
other siblings include Daryl Russell, Lea (John) Meldrum, Lori
(Todd) Preimsberg and Judy (Ed) Vandehey.
Anita has many nieces and nephews as well.
Rosary and viewing
will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, August 31 at St. Boniface
Catholic Church in Sublimity.
The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on September 1
also at St. Boniface. Interment
will be at St. Boniface Cemetery.
