Ridgefield, WA. –
Cletus, 78, passed away on Saturday in Ridgefield, WA. He was born
on May 5, 1931 in the Brown House in Stayton to Joseph P. and Opal
E. (Lambrecht) Schmitz. Cletus grew up in Stayton and lived in
Redmond until moving to Washington about 40 years ago. He enjoyed
teasing people and seemed like he would always get the best of
you. Cletus retired in 2003 after 56 years as a long haul truck
He is survived by his
wife of 47 years, Betty of Ridgefield, WA. ; kids, Calleen (Gary)
Howell of Vacouver, WA., Clem (Kathy) Schmitz of Chattanooga, TN.,
Kenny Schmitz of Vancouver, WA. , Keith (Karen) Newberg of
Vancouver, WA., Joyce Newberg (Chris Brown) of Hilo, HI., Dale
(Cindy) Newberg of Kalama, WA.; siblings: Charlene Boucher of
Gresham, Beatrice (Lee) Toepfer of Stayton, and Bob (Shirley)
Schmitz of Stayton; 20- grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Cletus was preceded in death by his son, Eugene Schmitz.
Funeral Services will be
held on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 12:30 PM at Evergreen Memorial
Gardens in Vancouver, WA. Donations may be sent to the charity of
