C. “Tillie” Spenner
April 8, 1933 – May 8, 2009


Stayton – Tillie, 76, died Friday in Sublimity. She was born in Sheilds, North Dakota. Tillie moved to Mt. Angel with her family, when she was young. She has lived in Stayton since 1953. 

Tillie worked as a CNA at the Benedictine Nursing Home in Mt Angel and Marian Estates in Sublimity. She worked as a cook at the Benedictine Nursing Home. Tillie worked for Norpac Foods Cannery  in Stayton and also for many years in the strawberry fields. She was the 8th of 11 children, and was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sublimity, the Altar Society, the Eagles Lodge and the Catholic Order of Foresters. She enjoyed bowling and socializing. Tillie was well known for her cinnamon rolls.

She married Vincent A. Spenner on May 9, 1953 in Mt Angel, he preceded her in death on May 27, 1997. Tillie is survived by daughters: Linda Spenner, Carol Spenner both of Stayton and Pauline MacDougall of Beaverton. Sons: Clement Spenner of Salem and Mark Spenner of Sammamish, WA. Brothers: Markus Klein of North Dakota, Ed Klein of Portland, Adolf Klein of Milton-Freewater, and Joe Klein of Albany. Sister: Betsy May of Mt. Angel. Grandchildren: Laura, Kent and Christine Spenner, and Nathan and Austin Tyson. Several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers: Andy, Mike and Gene Klein and Sisters: Pat Spoon and Verna Klein.

Recitation of Rosary will be Monday, May 11, 2009 at 7:00 PM and Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 10:00 AM  both at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sublimity. Interment in St. Boniface Cemetery in Sublimity.  Contributions may be made to Make a wish foundation or Marion County Special Olympics. Serving the family North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
