Timothy Templin of
Stayton died late Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the VA Hospital in
Tim was born in
Spokane, Washington on October 27, 1944 to William A. Templin
and Phyllis J. Markee Templin. His family moved to Butte,
Montana when he was two years old. He went to grade school at
Sacred Heart and The Immaculate Conception and attended Boys
Central High School. Tim
graduated high school at St. Francis High School in Eugene,
Oregon in 1963.
Tim received his
Bachelors Degree from The Oregon College of Education (now
Western Oregon University) in Monmouth, Oregon in 1967.
During College he worked at Meier and Frank in Salem in
the Women’s Shoe Department. After
graduation Tim served three years in the U.S. Army and was
stationed in Korea and San Rafael, California.
During this time he married his college sweetheart, Linda
Gwyther, and they had their daughter, Teresa.
service Tim returned to Oregon.
He worked for Beneficial Finance, the Oregon Department
of Revenue and as a Parole Officer for the Department of
Corrections. Tim lived in Salem,
Medford, Lincoln City and Grants Pass.
He was a member of Salem Barbershop (SPEBSQSA), the
Lincoln City Eagles and worked for the Britt Festival in
After retiring Tim
moved to Alaska and worked as a Security Guard at the Alaska
State Capital in Juneau, and fished which was his favorite
pastime. In 2005 Tim returned to Stayton, Oregon and immediately
became involved in the community through the Stayton Kiwanis.
He served as Kiwanis President in 2007-2008.
Tim was preceded in
death by his mother, Phyllis J. Bell of Stayton and his sister,
Toni Yates of Atlanta, GA.
He is survived by his father, William A. Templin of
Eugene, OR, his sister, Pamela Bertagnolli (Joe) of Cheyenne,
WY, brother Jim Templin (Judi) of Stayton, OR, sister
Lexine Hillier (Jim) of Irvine, CA, daughter Teresa
Bleakley (Keith) of Juneau, AK, son Timothy Scott Templin of
Olympia, WA, grand daughter Reece Bleakley of Juneau, AK.
A memorial service
will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Stayton, OR
on Friday, August 21 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family
has requested donations to the Stayton Kiwanis Every Child a
Swimmer Program, C/O P O Box 297, Stayton, OR 97383.
