Scio – Velma, 76, died
Sunday in Sublimity. She was born in Oakley, ID. Velma moved to
Oregon in 1938 living in South Salem, Salem, Turner and finally to
Scio in 1992. She worked as a dispatcher and later labor foreman
at the state motor pool for over 30 years. Velma enjoyed taking
care of her animals, gardening, and she saw the good in
everything.
She married Gordon
Devine on May 2, 1985 in Lake Tahoe, CA. Velma is survived by her
husband: Gordon of Scio; Daughters: Margie Stanton of Madras and
Laura Petersen of Reno, NV. Sons: Ken and Dennis Devine of Stayton
and Gerry Devine of Turner; Sister: Zelda Hanson of Bend and 12
– Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband,
Harold Pfeil; son: Dennis Pfeil and brother: Vern Hardy. There
will be no services held at her request. Private Interment will be
in Fairview Cemetery, Gates. Serving the family North
Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
