Gates – Walter, 91,
died Thursday in Sublimity. He was born in Winchester, Idaho, grew
up in Bend, moved to Salem in 1960 and moved to Gates 10 years
ago. Walter served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He worked as
a truck driver in freight and construction for 40 years, later he
was a tax appraiser for Marion County for 8 years. Walter also
raised and trained race horses that he raced mostly in Portland.
He was a member of the VFW in Gates.
Walter married Marie
Wolfe on October 11, 1941 in Reno, NV. He is survived by his wife
Marie of Keizer; Son: Ronald Keeney of Veneta; Daughter: Patricia
Lux of Mill City; Sister: Phyllis Brown of Des Moines, WA., and
10 – grandchildren. Walter was preceded in death by son
Robert Keeney.
