Marilyn, 78, went to be
with her Lord and Savior early Saturday in Stayton, Oregon
following a brain aneurysm. She
was born in York, Nebraska to Art and Gertrude Baltzer coming to
Oregon in 1936, settling in Woodburn, Salem, Lyons and eventually
to wonderful McCully Mountain.
She married Don Kuiken
on October 3, 1953 and they spent the next 56 years farming,
raising cattle and taking care of their family and a multitude of
friends and extended family. She
loved to cook and garden. Her food and flowers were well known.
She is survived by her
husband Don, daughter & son in law Cheryl & Norman Hughes
of Lyons, sons & daughter in law
Martin & Cathy Kuiken, Sweet Home and Eric & Brenda
Kuiken of Stayton, her 7 devoted grandchildren, Christina and Gary
McClain of Nampa, ID, Derek & Shelley Hughes of Mt. Angel,
Kyle & Bree Hughes and Jessica & Jason Merrel of Salem,
Bret & Rachel Hughes of Albany, and Kadence and Kaylee Kuiken
of Stayton and her 11 great grandchildren, Lexey, Peyton, Haley,
Chase, Easton, Cassity, Avery, Hudson, Jack, Risa and Madden.
She was preceded in
death by her daughter Suzanne Kuiken, her great granddaughters
Ashlyn and Quinn Hughes, her parents, her brothers Robert and
Richard Baltzer and her sister Sheila Barr.
Services will be at
Canyon Baptist Church in Lyons, Oregon on Thursday, July 8 at 2pm
with graveside services and potluck to follow.
