Lyons – Leland Leroy Manning, 85, was born on December 7, 1924 in Salem, Oregon. He died Friday, April 9, 2010 in Portland. He will be greatly missed. Leland grew up in the Santiam Canyon area and graduated from Mill City High School. He married his one true love, Kathleen Etzel, on June 17, 1950 in Stayton, Oregon. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lyons and the American Legion.

Leland’s hobbies and interests included hunting, fishing and sports. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and was in high spirits on Easter because he got to spend the day with a house full of kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen, sons, Rich (Darlene) and Larry (Rhonda), daughter, Cherri (Ken) Namitz, grandchildren, Shawna Anundi, Tim Manning, Corey Manning, Chad Namitz, Amy Doran, Tara Manning and Craig Namitz, and seven great-grandchildren.
