Shaw – Theodora
“Dora” Patronella Peters, daughter of Johanna an John deJager
was born in Nijmegen, Holland March 27, 1913. When her family
moved to America they settled in South Dakota and this is where
she first met her husband of 59 years, Theodore William Peters.
They were married on November 5, 1935 in Carthage, Missouri. After
living in Michigan, Missouri and South Dakota she and her husband
with their four children moved to Sublimity, Oregon in 1951 and
then in 1955 they moved to the farm she absolutely loved in Shaw.
Besides farm work Dora
worked many years as a caregiver. She was also a very active
member of St. Mary’s Church in Shaw. She loved her faith,
family, friends, farm life, animals, writing poetry, telling
stories, listening to music and in later years going with her
friends and family to a casino.
Dora passed away on
March 5, 2010 with family at her side. She was preceded in death
by her husband, Theodore in 1994, her grandson, Ryan Ring in 1991
and her great-granddaughter, Melissa Hauser-Hillyard in 2007. She
is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Angeline and Leon
Turner of Schwenksville, PA., her sons and daughters-in-law,
Theodore and Dorothy Peters of Aumsville and John and Pam Peters
of Shaw, her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Pete Lorensen of
Salem, 13 – grandchildren, 32 – great-grandchildren, and 4 –
great-great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be held at
7:30 PM Friday, March 12 and Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM
Saturday, March 13 both at St. Mary’s Church in Shaw with a
reception following. Serving the family North

The family would like to
express their gratitude to all the staff at McKillop Residence,,
Odyssey Health Care (hospice) and the Santiam Unit at Marian
Estates for all the love, compassion and care they gave to Dora.
