Charles “Chuck” and Mary Posvar
May 17, 1933 and May 14, 1938 – March 22, 2010

 

Scio – Charles and Mary Posvar, 76 and 71, died Monday in Scio. Chuck was born in Malin, OR where he grew up graduating from Stayton High School in 1952.  Mary was born and raised in Mt. Angel and graduated from Mt. Angel Academy in 1957. Chuck and Mary met at a relatives wedding and were married on June 7, 1958 in Mt. Angel. After serving in the US Army during the Korean War, they moved to Seattle where Chuck went to work for Boeing.  In 1965 they moved back to the Jordan area as they knew that was where they wanted to call home. 

Chuck worked for NORPAC Foods, Inc. in various positions for 32 years retiring as a shift supervisor. Mary was a home maker. They were devoted members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Stayton.  Their retirement years were spent volunteering as camp host for Oregon State Parks on the Oregon coast and Oregon Fish and Wildlife Jewell Wildlife Meadow Park.  Chuck and Mary always looked forward to having holidays and family gatherings at the farm and making friends and neighbors welcomed as extended family. Chuck enjoyed fishing, hunting and being in the outdoors.  His enjoyment for woodworking became a favorite pass time making gifts for the family including baby doll cradles for his daughters and granddaughters.   Chuck loved his dachshunds dogs which never left his side.  Mary enjoyed craft projects, quilting, and ceramic painting.  She enjoyed baking and canning the summer crop if the deer had not eaten it before it produced. 

They are survived by their sons: Doug (Mayumi) Posvar of Japan, Dan (Donna) Posvar of Sublimity, and Don (Vickie) Posvar of Sauvie Island; daughters: Danell Dripps of Hillsboro and Denise (Dennis) Fortune of Albany and 11 grandchildren; Chuck’s sisters: Marion (Dave) Bender of Jordan and Janet (Don) Ruettgers of Stayton; Mary’s Sister: Cathy Cameron of Wamick; her brothers: John (Marie) Ilg of Seaside, Tony (Dorothy) Ilg of Mt. Angel and Mike Ilg of Sisters; She was preceded in death by brothers: Joseph and Andy Ilg.

Recitation of Rosary will be Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 10:00 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM both at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Stayton. Interment will be Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Jordan. Reception following at the Jordan Hall in Jordan. Contributions may be made in Mary’s name to American Diabetes Association.
