Scio – Augy , 90, of
Scio passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, August 4.
Augy was born on August 9, 1919, in Echo, Oregon the 3rd
of 10 children. He graduated from Oregon State and began a 40-year
career in Forest Products Research for Champion International.
Augy enjoyed coaching basketball, attending Regis sporting events,
tinkering around on his small farm, playing cards, music and
dancing. He was a member of the Elks and Knights of Columbus for
many years.
Augy married Dorothy
Togstad in 1944 and they had 10 children: Jane (Robert) Metivier
of Danbury, CT., Joe - Deceased, Mark (Sharon) of Silverton, Jim
(Janet) of Stayton, John (Becky) Green River, WY., Tom (Joyce)
Spring Valley, WI., Mary (Jim) Gries of Stayton, Matt (Danell)
Sublimity, Patty (Bruce) Clark of Salem and Paul (Patty) of
Chantilly, VA.. He married Efenita Lumbab in 1985 and they had 5
children; Efelito (Julie) of Portland, Flora (Ryan) Loibl of Scio,
Regee (Krista) Boise, ID., Freddy (Salvi) of Galveston, TX., and
Johanna (Travis) Crawford of England. Augy had 36 grandchildren
and 25 great-grandchildren. He is survived by sisters: Lily
Mitchell, Mabel Watson, Elsie Middleton, Pauline Matheny, Ina
Clark and Doris Pitzer. Augy was preceded in death by his first
wife Dorothy in 1981; son Joseph in 2009; granddaughter Kayla in
1989; one brother and two sisters.
Recitation of Rosary
will be Tuesday, August 10 at 7:00pm and Mass of Christian Burial
will be Wednesday, August 11 at 1:00 pm both at Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church in Stayton, where he was a member.
Graveside services to follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Stayton.
There will be a reception immediately following at Anthony Hall.
