Marie (Heuberger) Silbernagel
February 19, 1938- October
JORDAN- A life long resident of Jordan, Joan Marie (Heuberger)
Silbernagel died peacefully at home on October 29. She was born in
Salem Oregon on February 19, 1938 to Henry and Ann Heuberger.
Married to Ted Silbernagel on May 2, 1959, they actually enjoyed
the next 51 years together.
Joan was valued by her
family as a local historian, with a prodigious memory for names
and faces. She could always identify many if not most of the
people in old family and local regional photographs. Consequently
having worked for Walter Bell, Bell and Bell and Alan Bell,
attorneys, for over 40 years, then as church secretary for Our
Lady of Lourdes Church the next 10, it always seemed as though she
knew everyone in the surrounding area.
Joan was a member of Our
Lady of Lourdes Parish in Jordan, the Lyons Garden Club, Christian
Mothers, and the National Catholic Society of Foresters. She took
simple pleasures in day-to-day life; cooking, pinochle, and many
various crafts but she had a particular talent for gardening and
flower-arrangement. Her rose garden and yard on the hill offer
beautiful testimony to her creative nurturing spirit. A woman of
strong faith, she exhibited grace and dignity in her final days
providing family and friends alike a powerful example of personal
courage and fortitude.
Joan Silbernagel is
survived by her husband, Ted; children, Janice (Francis) Nibler,
Pat (Becki) Silbernagel, Tom (Cathy) Silbernagel, Doug (Suzi)
Silbernagel, Kathy (Scott) Nofziger; 12 grandchildren, and three
brothers; Ernie (Karen) Heuberger, Andy (Jane) Heuberger and Bill
