Leroy Dean “Lee” Bensing
August 21, 1935 – February 25, 2011


Sublimity – Lee, 75, died February 25 in Sublimity. He was born in Huntsville, AR. Lee grew up in Okanogan Valley, WA. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. After his time in the service, Lee moved to Eugene and worked for the FAA as an air traffic Controller. He lived in Coos Bay, before moving to Stayton in 1967, moving to Sublimity 5 years ago. Lee worked as the office manager and treasurer at North Santiam Paving from 1975 until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the Cascade View Free Methodist Church, the Stayton Rotary Club, and Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship. Lee also served as an advisor for the Women’s Aglow in Stayton. He was an avid coin and stamp collector. Lee enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and playing horseshoe’s and pool. He married Bonnie Mingo on October 11, 1958 in Springfield.

Lee is survived by his wife: Bonnie of Sublimity; children: Julie Buckley of Lebanon, Susan Becktold of Sublimity, Jeff Bensing of Stayton, Michael Bensing of Stayton, Kimberly Seibel of Sublimity, John Bensing of Brookings, and Adam Yeske of Aumsville; brothers: Ross Bensing of Wenatchee, WA., and Ray Bensing of Chicago, IL.; sisters: Ellen Hallam of Omak, WA., Juanita Robbins of Omak, WA., and Louella Buchingham of Brewster, WA.; 18 – grandchildren and 9 – great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers: Clifford and Carl Bensing.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Cascade View Free Methodist Church in Sublimity. Private interment was in Lone Oak Cemetery, Stayton. Contributions may be made to the Union Gospel Mission. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
