Dennis L. Darland, 58, of Scio, died
peacefully Wednesday at his home. He was born in Salem OR,
September 23, 1952. One of three boys of Ray & Thelma Darland.
Spending his young years in Salem, OR, graduating from McNary
Highschool in 1971. He then joined the Army and served as a
Military Police Officer in Germany. He later graduated from Linn
Benton CC in Waste Water Management. He worked in Canyonville OR
until moving to California where he met and married Saphyre Hart.
He spent part of his days off driving people with cancer to their
doctor appointments as a volunteer. He worked for the city of
Los Angles at the Hyperion Treatment plant where he gained
many friends. He retired in 2008 and moved to Scio near his
family. He enjoyed his dogs, friends and family until his passing.
He became a member of the Stayton United Methodist Church where he
got busy and made many friends and spent time increasing his faith
in his Savior Jesus Christ. Upon returning to Oregon he also began
to reconnect with old friends. Dennis was a man who was always fun
loving. He enjoyed his Blazers and Oregon ducks. He met Kerry
Charlton and greatly enjoyed time with Kerry, her family &
He was a member of the American Legion,
post #51 in Lebanon and the “Esophageal Cancer Awareness
Association”. He participated in several “Relays For Life”
in support of cancer research.
He was predeceased by his wife Saphyre and
parents Ray & Thelma. He is survived by his daughter Neisha
Darland, his brothers, George and Don and Sister-in-law Vicki; nephews and nieces,
Christian & Denise Darland, Frank & Stephanie Meisse, Cy
& Dana Ziemer, Scott Darland, and Ray & Courtney Gonzalez;
Tamela Ivie; his be-loved lady-friend Kerry Charlton and her
loving family who were also at his side in passing. Grand nieces
and nephews, Timothy, Karis and Nathaniel Darland, Hank, Kaitlin,
Oscar, Mia and Jack Meisse, Lilly and Carter Ziemer, Xavier &
Julian Gonzalez and Jaquelin Ivie. A special Aunt & Uncle,
Trish & Tom Lloyd and his cousins Shari & Gary.
A celebration and memorial will be held on
Saturday, March 12th at 2pm at the Stayton United Methodist
Church, 1450 Fern Ridge Rd. SE, Stayton, OR 97383. Contributions
