Norman “Pete” Duhart,
81, passed away on April 6, 2011 at home in Mehama, Oregon,
surrounded by his family. Born
on June 20, 1929 to the late Joseph Edward Duhart and Octavia
Castonguay Duhart, Pete spent most of his youth between
Worchester, Massachusetts and Hartford, Connecticut.
As an adult, he lived with his wife Vivian Trahan Duhart
and children in Somers, Connecticut for 26 years before moving to
Vivian’s childhood home in Oregon in 1992.
Pete’s career included
serving 18 months in the US Army and a year working for the
Veteran’s Administration. He
retired as a Cost Accountant for Combustion Engineering, Windsor,
Connecticut, in 1985.
Pete was an avid sports
fan and especially enjoyed baseball, basketball, golf and bowling.
Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and Portland Trailblazers
were among his favorite teams.
In his spare time, Pete played pedal steel guitar in
various local country-western bands and created “Vi-Kel
Recording Studios” in his home, producing and recording his own
He is survived by his
wife Vivian; sister Isabel Duhart of Newington, Connecticut;
brother Joseph Duhart of Reno, Nevada; daughter Lynn Watts of
Sarasota, Florida; daughter Kelly Bruce and her husband Tom Bruce
of Salem, Oregon, and son Joe Duhart and his wife Beth Duhart of
Salem, Oregon, along with six grandchildren: Matt Voisine and his
wife Claire Voisine of Los
Angeles, California; Justin Chaparro, Sarah Duhart, Abbi Duhart,
and Hannah Duhart all of Salem, Oregon.
A private family
celebration of life will be held in June. In
lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Odyssey VistaCare
