a courageous battle with cancer, Ralph Geil passed away on Easter
Sunday, April 24, 2011, four days before his 81st birthday.
A long time Newport
resident, Ralph was born April 28, 1930 in Brownsville, Oregon and
graduated from Stayton High School in 1948. The following spring
he married the love of his life, Mary Lou Nielson. In 1953, Ralph
and Mary Lou moved to Newport, where Ralph worked as a
self-employed contract logger, owning and managing Geil Logging
until his retirement. An avid golfer who achieved two lifetime
holes in one, Ralph enjoyed reading, sports, hunting, fishing,
camping, sunshine and sharing the natural beauty of the outdoors
with his family.
member of B.P.O.E. and long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic
Church, Ralph was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle
and friend. He will be greatly missed by children Russell
(Deborah) Geil, Jane (Leland) Jincks, James Geil, daughter-in-law
Julie Geil and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren,
brothers- and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his son Gary in 1989 and his beloved wife
Mary Lou 2009.
SERVICE INFORMATION: Mass
of Resurrection scheduled for Friday, April 29, at 11:00 am at
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newport. Visitation will begin at
10:00am. A reception will be held in the church hall followed by a
Graveside interment at Eureka Cemetery. Services entrusted into
the care of Affordable Burial & Cremation Co.
