Salem – Merrill, 72,
died December 6 in Salem. He was born in Vernon, TX., living most
of his adult life in California until moving to Salem 11 years
ago. Merrill served in the US Navy. He worked as an electronics
segment controller for Lockheed Martin Corp. for 26 years. Merrill
was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose since 1986 most
recently Stayton Lodge #2639, and was very dedicated to the Order.
He coached softball for many years. Merrill enjoyed camping,
fishing and traveling. He married Marjorie Tiffany on April 8,
1961 in San Jose, CA.
Merrill is survived by
his wife: Marjorie of Salem; daughters: Candace Dowdy of Salem and
Robyn Gathright of McKinney, TX.; grandchildren: Dallas Dowdy of
Salem, Brandon Dowdy of Winston and Kristen Gathright of McKinney,
TX. He was preceded in death by his brother Gene Grigsby. There
will be no services held at his request. Contributions may be made
to the Alzheimer’s Association. Serving the family, North
