Regina Magee, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday at Marian Estates in Sublimity, Oregon. Ms. Magee was born in Port Angeles, Wash., to James J. and Hazel Ann (Cowden) Magee. Her father was an immigrant from Belfast, Ireland. She graduated in 1944 from Quillayute High School in Forks, Washington and from Marylhurst College near Portland in 1952 with a degree in elementary education.

Regina worked at Meier & Frank Department Store in Portland, Oregon, Cascade Plywood in Portland, at a battery factory in Lebanon, Oregon and at the Lebanon Telephone Co. for a time. Her first teaching position was at Park Street Elementary School in Hood River, Oregon. She was teaching at Halsey Elementary School in Halsey, Oregon, when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

Regina liked to travel and did so frequently with her friends Rita Fox and Mildred Vodjansky. She traveled as far as Medjugorje in the former Yugoslavia. In 2006, she moved from The Oaks Assisted Living in Lebanon, Oregon, to Marian Estates in Sublimity, Oregon.

Ms. Magee was a member of the Oregon Education Association, Catholic Daughters of America at St. Edward Catholic Church in Lebanon, Oregon, and, at the time of her death, was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sublimity, Oregon. She was grateful to the church members, especially Wayne Silbernagel, who drove her to Mass each week and to all at Marian Estates who, daily, gave her tender, loving care.

Regina is survived by one sister, Kathleen Smyth of Hayfork, California; numerous nieces and nephews, and good friends and advocates for her, Helen Bellinger of Lebanon, Oregon and Kathleen Schrock of Tangent, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers James and John “Gary” Magee and their spouses.

Viewing will be at Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant, Lebanon, Oregon, on Thursday, August 25 from 5-7 p.m., with a Rosary following at 7 p.m. A memorial Mass will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, 100 Main St. Lebanon.

In lieu of flowers, Regina requested that donations be made to St. Edward Catholic Church. A private interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, beside her parents, in Lebanon, Oregon. Huston-Jost Funeral home is handling arrangements.
