Turner –
Howard, 82, died Tuesday in Turner. He was born in Brushy Ridge,
Oklahoma, and moved to Turner in 1945. Howard did farm work,
logged in the 1950’s, ran a rock crusher and worked in
construction building pole buildings, roads, and many fences near
railroads for Southern Pacific Railroad. He was a board member of
Marion Friends Cemetery in Marion and did the cemetery maintenance
for many years. Howard enjoyed hunting, playing cards, especially
with three special friends, and enjoyed telling stories. He loved
gambling, especially dice games, playing at Spirit Mountain and
also Reno.
Howard’s
family was very important to him, he was always helping them do
things and helping with their future needs, he enjoyed helping
others also. In the past he had attended Marion Friends Church.
Howard married Imo Parker on July 23, 1948 in Salem.
He is
survived by his wife: Imo of Turner; children: Ima L. Neal, Caroll
(Louie) Brandt, David G. Neal and Annette (Landen) Peterson all of
Turner; sisters: Nadine (Cy) Hopper of Florence and Reta Poplin of
Medford; grandchildren: Scott, Jerad, Cindy, Tim, Debbie, Tony and
Taylen; great-grandchildren: Ava, Adam, Marcus, Leah, Kahryn,
Daria, Caden, Luke, Everett, Daphne, Samuel, Abigail, David and
Jane.
Memorial
services will be Sunday, January 1, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Marion
Church of God (Seventh Day) 7478 Stayton Rd. SE Turner. Private
interment will be in Marion Friends Cemetery. Contributions may be
made to Marion Friends Cemetery Association. Serving the family, North
Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
