Bettye, 70, went to be with the Lord Saturday morning in Salem.
She was born in Willimantic, CT., and moved to Oregon when she was
5. Bettye grew up in the Mt. Pleasant/Mehama area and attended St.
Mary Elementary School in Stayton and Stayton High School,
graduating in 1959. She
moved to Salem later in 1959 and worked for the State of Oregon
for 38 years in the Employment Division as an Administrative
enjoyed camping, puzzles, swimming, traveling, the Oregon Coast,
and flower gardening, especially roses and pansies. She loved
family get-togethers, hanging out with friends, and caring for her
cats, who were like her children. Bettye was known for her great
sense of humor and very generous, fun-loving spirit.
She will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.
survived by sisters: Vivian Duhart of Mehama and Judy (Vern)
Garrett and family of Hermiston; niece: Kelly (Tom) Bruce of
Salem; nephew: Joe (Beth) Duhart of Mehama; great-nieces and
nephews: Matthew (Claire), Justin, Sarah, Abbi and Hannah. Bettye
was preceded in death by parents: Leo and Evelyn Trahan; and
brothers: Robert Trahan and Walter Trahan.
Christian Burial will be Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11:00 am at
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Stayton. Interment will
be in St. Mary Cemetery, Stayton. Serving the family, North
Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
