Maurice M. Adams
August 9, 1920 September 24, 2012

Stayton Maurice, 92, died Monday in Salem. He was born in Charleston, AR., growing up in Oklahoma and moving to Stayton in 1953. Maurice worked in the Kaiser Shipyards during WWII as a fitter and fabricator. He owned and operated a service station and garage on Route 66 for 7 years and later worked as a supervisor for Mike Adams Construction for 32 years.

Maurice was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed electronics, radio and TV repair, gardening, doing the crossword puzzle daily and so interested in photography that he had his own darkroom. Maurice married Julia Kerkhoff on September 16, 1941 in Canute, OK.

He is survived by his wife: Julia of Stayton; children: Janice (Cecil) Lee of Salem, Dennis Adams of Lyons and Mark Adams of Keizer; brothers: Leo Adams of Elk City, OK., Clarence Adams and Mike Adams both of Stayton; sister: Teresa Word of Elk City, OK.;6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Maurice was preceded in death by daughter: Mary; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Visitation will be Friday, September 28 from 9 am 8 pm at North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton. Vigil will be Friday, September 28 at 5:30 pm and Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 29 at 10:30 am both  at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Stayton. Interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Stayton. Reception following at Stayton Community Center.  Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
