Stayton – Helen was
born February 6, 1922 in Powersville, MO., the second of seven
children, to parents Ray and Kitty Nye. The family lived in
Seymour, IA., until 1937 when they moved to Oregon. She met Perry
Clipfell and they were married April 19, 1944. After living in
Mehama for a short time they moved to Lyons where she raised five
children and cared for many more. Helen became affectionately
known by family and friends as “Ma”. She moved to Stayton in
1978 and continued to baby sit into her late seventies. Helen kept
track of many of the children she cared for and held a special
place in her heart for Jeremy and Justin Mitchell.
March 2, 2012 Helen
passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family and friends at
the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Steve. She was
preceded in death by husband Perry, great-grandson Calvin,
brothers: Virgil, Jim, and Chester; sisters: Marian and Marie.
Helen is survived by her sister: Fern Van Handel of Bend; sons:
Dennis of Stayton, Martin (Judy) of Redmond; daughters: Sharon
Brown of Scappoose, Patricia Carpenter of Salem and Doris (Steve)
Summers of Sublimity, 13 – grandchildren; 16 –
great-grandchildren and 3 – great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of
Helen’s life will be held at a later date. Serving the family, North
Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
