Charles “Jack” E. Norman
July 16, 1933 – June 5, 2012

Sublimity – Jack was born in Dallas to Myrt and Dick Norman. He died at home at the age of 78 from an eight week battle with cancer. Jack married Marita Zuber on November 15, 1952 in Sublimity. He spent eight years in the Navy Reserves. A jack of all trades, he worked as a commercial fisherman, supervisor in two mills, served as president of the board at Standard Veneer in Crescent City, CA., owner of the T-Patch in Salem and retired from maintenance and operations at the state capitol.

Jack volunteered as a boy scout leader, reader at church and Sublimity Planning Commission. He was always willing to offer a helping hand and loved to hear even a stranger’s story. The highlights in Jack’s life were fishing, gardening, taking his grandchildren on unknown adventures and working at the capitol. It showed on his face and lifted his spirits when his coworkers would visit during his final days.

Jack is survived by his wife: Marita of Sublimity; daughters: Denise Norman of Salem and Debbie (Bob) Ziegler of Jacksonville; sons: Chuck (Robin) Norman of Stayton and Richard (Erika) Norman of Salem; 9 –grandchildren and 6 – great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Bev Tombleson.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Boys Town National Headquarters 14100 Crawford St. Boys Town, NE 68010 or Willamette Valley Hospice 1015 3rd St. NW Salem, OR 97304. Recitation of Rosary will be Wednesday, June 13 at 7pm at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Sublimity. Celebration of Life will be Friday, June 15 from 12-3 pm at St. Boniface’s Rectory in Sublimity. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
