Dennis Bate

February 5, 1929 – March 27, 2013

Sublimity – Dennis, 84, died March 27 in Sublimity. He was born in Lofthous, Yorkshire, England. Dennis served in the British Army in the Korean War. He immigrated to the United States in 1964 living in Milwaukie, moving to Oregon City in 1971 and settling in Sublimity in 2005. Dennis worked as a dimensional engineer for 22 years for Precision Cast Parts in Portland. He enjoyed sailing and was a member of the Dolphin Yacht Club in Camas, WA., serving through the ranks including Commodore, and also a member of the Canadian Legion Post 191.

Dennis married Margaret Goldspink on March 16, 1963 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. He is survived by his wife: Margaret Bate of Sublimity; children: Carole (Graham) Barratt of England, Peter Bate of Stayton, David (Erin) Bate of Oregon City and Andrew “Drew” (Val) Bate of Mill City; brother: Jack Bate of England; sister: Doreen Fisher of England; 6 – grandchildren and 4 – great-grandchildren. Memorial service and interment will be in England. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
