Willis “Bill” King

October 29, 1930 – August 7, 2013

Aumsville – Bill, 82, died Wednesday in Stayton. He was born at the family home on the farm in Irish Bend near Corvallis. Bill grew up in Irish Bend living throughout Oregon, California and Washington until moving to Albany in 1972, Irish Bend in 1975 and settling in Aumsville in 1980. He worked at various plywood mills as a mill rite and drove truck, until owning and operating Bill’s Trucking from 1980 until 1995.

Bill could fix, repair, manufacture or build anything and loved on working on anything mechanical. He enjoyed any kind of racing, especially NASCAR, and watching wrestling. Bill married Ivy Mae Lettenmaier on February 9, 1951 in Springfield.

He is survived by his wife: Ivy Mae of Aumsville; children: Gary King and Nancy (Jay) Coogan both of Kettle Falls, WA.; grandchildren: Brad Coogan, Gabriel King, Michelle Thomas, Aaron King, Miranda Geiszler & Willis King; and six great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

A party celebrating Bill’s life will be held at his residence on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to  the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
