Stayton - Marg Marie
Ware Limbocker, 83, was born in Salem to E.T. “Gene” & Margaret
Ware. She grew up on the family farm east of Stayton. Her
education began in the one room Howell School; she graduated
from Stayton High School in 1948 and received her teaching
credential from Oregon College of Education in 1951. Later
that year she started her teaching career in Reedsport and met
a young civil engineer named Ken Limbocker.
After a whirlwind
courtship (first date Halloween, Thanksgiving engagement) they
married December 22, 1951. Their union produced 4 children.
Between 1951 and 1969 Marg and Ken relocated seven times before
moving to Stayton where they built a home on the old Ware
farmstead. Marg taught school in Stayton until her retirement
in 1988. For Marg, paying it forward was a way of life—her
gratitude for life’s gifts was expressed in her
volunteering. She gave freely of her time, energy and
resources as an active member of her church, as a food bank
volunteer, and blood bank organizer. Marg was Stayton’s
Woman of the Year in 2000 and Marion County Recycler of the
Year in 2001. A tree was planted in her honor at the Stayton
Food Bank in 2011. She was an avid sports fan and loved
watching the Trailblazers.
Marg died November 4
at her home after a 2 year battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma.
She is survived by her husband Ken, her children Suzanne (Bob)
(Michel) Limbocker, Kent (Donna) Limbocker and Lance (Zilpha)
Limbocker; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She also leaves sisters, Helen Krenz and Betty Jackson
as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Marg’s life will
be celebrated with a memorial service Saturday, November 16th
at 2:00 pm at Stayton United Methodist Church in Stayton,
where she was a member. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations
may be made to the church’s stained glass window fund or
Marion Polk Food Share. She was loved by many and will be
missed by all who knew her. Serving the family, North
Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
