Open House Shows Off New Municipal Court Building
July 7, 2014, Stayton OR - The City of Stayton held an open house for the new Stayton Municipal Court building. The newly renovated historic building at 260 N Second Avenue will be the home of the new Court beginning July 16th. Former uses of this City owned building include housing the Women's Community Club (built for in 1927), the early Stayton Library and most recently the Santiam Historical Society museum. The refurbished main floor of the building now contains a court clerk's office, a small judge's chamber, a bathroom, waiting area, and of course, an official courtroom. Not to go unnoticed is an impressive collection of local historical photographs complimenting the quality remodel work, all of which preserves the buildings historical feel.
Local Attorney Jonathan Clark was sworn in on June 16th as the new court's first Judge. The court will serve citations and cases from within the Stayton city limits.
