OR – Truly one of God’s gentle creations, Dora Cottini,
92, passed from this life into the next on July 10. She is
remembered as a loving and much loved, wife, mother, aunt,
grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as neighbor and
was born in Manhattan, NY on October 3, 1921, and at the age
of 9 moved west with her family to Weed, CA. There she met and
married John C. Cottini on September 14, 1940. They moved to
Mount Shasta in 1948, where Dora worked at raising her family.
John preceded her in death in 1970.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in
Mount Shasta, belonging to St. Anthony Altar Society. She also
belonged to the Dudes & Daisies Square Dance Club of Mount
Shasta. She was an active member of her parish, until leaving
Mount Shasta to be with her daughter, Diana in Oregon.
was as active and devoted a grandmother and great-grandmother
as she was a mother. Never too tired to go to all the
activities where her family was involved; Summer basketball
and baseball, even if it meant two games a night! Besides
being a dental assistant for 12 years, Dora enjoyed painting
in oil and water, having finished her last painting at the age
of 92! She also enjoyed cooking and was known for her
delicious spaghetti sauce that she would make and gave away.

Diana (Charles) Callsen of Aumsville, OR and surrogate son,
Gary (Betty) Ozunas of Ridgecrest, CA; brother: Enrico Chiodo
of Carmichael, CA; sister-in-law: Katherine Chiodo of
Carmichael, CA; grandchildren: Christina (Sean) Persinger of
Vacaville, CA, Patrick Cottini of Chico, CA and Cory (Debbie)
Callsen of Stayton, OR; and great-grandchildren: Collin and
Garrett Callsen of Stayton, OR and Julia Persinger of
Vacaville, CA; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by brother, Ernie Chiodo, sister-in-law, Beverly Chiodo,
brother and sister-in-law, Nick and Mary Chiodo and
daughter-in-law, Constance Cottini.
special “Thank you” to the neighbors, friends and family
for all you did, which allowed Dora to live at home as long as
she did. Mass of Christian Burial will be September 19, 2014
at 12:00 noon at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Mount Shasta,
CA with inurnment of the cremains at Mount Shasta Memorial
