Robert “Rob” Parker
July 24, 1945 – May 24, 2014

Stayton – Rob, 68, died May 24 in Portland. He was born in Minneapolis, MN. Rob grew up in Grand Rapids, MN moving the Independence in 1985 and finally settling in Stayton in 1990. He worked as a custodian for the State of Oregon for 10 years. Rob was a member of the Handyman Club of America and for the last 3 years was very active in the Santiam Senior Center. He enjoyed rodeos and bull riding in his younger years and later in life enjoyed boating, fishing, model trains, old cars and John Wayne. Rob’s biggest enjoyment was riding around Stayton in his power chair and visiting with passer-bys. He married Fran (Schoenke) Klein on November 11, 1990 in Dallas.

Rob is survived by his wife: Fran of Stayton; daughters: Lori Parker of Stayton, Roberta Brown of Balaton, MN, and Lesa Hammond of Sage, AR; step-children: Dave Klein of Downer’s Grove, IL, Bill Klein of Keizer, Jim Klein of Bellevue, WA, and Keri Groat of Sublimity; 6 grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ron Parker.

A memorial service will be on Saturday, May 31 at 1:00 pm at 14079 Triumph Rd in Sublimity. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Santiam Senior Center building fund. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
