Robert Allen Andersch
November 7, 1941 – January 23, 2015

Sublimity – Robert, 73, was born on November 7, 1941 in Klamath Falls to Walter and Genevieve Andersch. He fought a valiant battle with cancer for eight years before he went into our Heavenly Father’s arms on January 23. His wife, Hedy, and daughter, Maria, were by his side when he took his last breath. Hospice gave wonderful support at his home the last three days of his life.

Robert was the proud caring, loving father to three children: Andrew (Meghan) Andersch, Karl (Janna) Andersch and Maria (Bruce) Schmidlkofer. He has eight grandchildren “our little sunshines”. He was the youngest of five siblings; Rosemary White (deceased), Elizabeth Igl, Edmond Andersch and Jerry Warren. Robert was married to Hedy for 49 years. They met at a dance at Mt. Angel College, and enjoyed dancing together throughout life.

He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and later finished his Master’s Degree at PSU. He taught school for 35 years, 6 years at St. Anne’s School in Portland and 29 years in public education; Wilsonville, Groner and Hillsboro School District. He was a Boy Scout Leader, coached football and basketball for years and taught CCD at St. Anne’s and St. Anthony Church. Bob taught grades 5,6,7 and 8 and was a Media Specialist.

His students affectionately called him “Mr. A”. They always made great strides in their academic achievement, and fondly remember him as a firm, caring, and compassionate teacher, who encouraged them to do their best. His students remember his great, funny stories to make a point, wonderful expression in books he read to them, educational games to spark interest, and the end of the year finale for science was to shoot off their homemade rockets outside across the school field.

Bob’s humor and love of family showed through in his example of love, hard work, integrity, honesty, and Christian faith. He loved to go fishing and hiking in the mountains or at the beach with his family. The length of the fish grew longer, as the fish tales were told! We all laughed! Bob and Hedy loved music and dancing together throughout their 49 years of marriage. They will meet again, someday, dancing in heaven.

Recitation of Rosary will be Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 10 am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am both at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sublimity. Interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery, Sublimity. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Robert Andersch to Oregon Community Foundation Oregon Scholarship Fund 1221 SW Yamhill St. Ste 100 Portland, OR 97205. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
