Carmen, born in
Garibaldi, Oregon to George and Eda Stafford went to be home
with her Savior on a sunny spring day in Niagara, Oregon.
Carmen graduated from Gates High School in 1946 and in
1950 married the love of her life, Dave Barnhardt.
Dave and Carmen raised three daughters, Melody, Debra
and Lisa. Carmen
was fiercely loyal to family, a blue-ribbon State Fair baker,
a Ladyslipper and Morel mushroom finder, a natural musician,
playing the accordion, concertina, piano and harmonica, a
steadfast friend to many, local historian, writer, a defender
of right, a generous wife, mother, grandmother and great
Carmen is preceded
in death by her husband Dave and her brother Marvin. She is survived by her daughters, Melody (Scott) Munger,
Debra Corning, Lisa (Valery) Chalidze; 5 grandchildren, Mike
(Kelly) Munger, Nick (Annie) Munger, Angie (Marvin) Noble,
Tonya (Jeff) Roerig, Doug Corning, 7 great grandchildren,
Garrett, Carson, Graham, Jordan, Aaliyah, Tennessee and
Liberty, her sister Delores (Terry) Drake and sister-in-law
Esther Stafford and beloved nieces and nephews.
Services will be
held Wednesday, April 8, 10:00 at the Gates Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the
Gates Fairview Cemetery.
