Andrew J. Barry
September 8, 1930 – January 5, 2015

Sublimity – Andrew, 84, died January 5 in Sublimity. He was born in Lakeview, growing up there and in Klamath Falls. Andrew served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked as a Oregon State Police Officer for 32 years, serving in Ontario, Astoria, Coquille and McMinnville. The highlight of Andrew’s career was serving on the body guard detail for JFK in Astoria in 1963.

After retiring, he worked as a cadet for 7 years in the Coos Bay area. Andrew enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, story telling, woodworking, and cooking, especially chopping the vegetables. He married Bernetta Smith on September 9, 1974 in Aberdeen, WA. Together for the last 10 years they spent six months in Seaside and six months in Brenda, AZ a year.

Andrew is survived by his wife: Bernetta; 13 children; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and brother: John Barry. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Phil. Private family services will be held.  Private interment will be at a later date. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
