Tony J. Basl
January 28, 1965 – November 29, 2015

Salem – Tony, 50, died November 29 in Scio. He was born in Stayton and grew up here, living in Portland and for the last 22 years in Salem. Tony graduated from Stayton High School in 1983 and received his Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Linfield University. Most of his life he was a member and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Stayton and recently he also attended and was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Salem.

Tony married Angelique Deplois on August 12, 1988 in Salem. He worked as controller for Power Transmission Products in Portland until it closed. Tony worked for 20 years as a tax preparer for H&R Block. The last 10 years he was a Finance Specialist at Spirit Mountain Casino and also had recently started his own bookkeeping service.

Tony was a very patient man who helped his parents on the family ranch. He also learned the antique business from his parents. Tony enjoyed photography and animals. He was also a huge Boston Red Sox fan.

Tony is survived by his wife: Angelique Deplois-Basl of Salem; mother: Joyce Basl of Scio; children: Robert Basl of Salem and Victoria Deplois-Basl of Salem; sisters: Nancy (Steve) Cook of Philomath, Carol (Ron) Mouser of Stayton, Bonnie (John) Ripp of Stayton and Peggy Mack of Scio.

Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, December 7, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Stayton. Contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society or Immaculate Conception Church Building Fund. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
