Carlyle "Carl" J. Brenna
July 15, 1928 - July 25, 2015

Stayton - Carl, 87, died Saturday, July 25, in Salem.  He was born in Watford City, ND.  At age 5 his family moved to McCone, MT and then to Glasgow, MT.  Carl graduated from Nashua High School in 1946, at age 17, and then joined the Army Air Corp.  He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War, retiring from the Air Force in 1966.  During this time, Carl met the love of his life, Juanita (Williams). They were married April 5, 1950, and had 60 memorable years together.

Upon retiring from the Air Force, Carl moved his family to Stayton.  He started his second career, serving the State of Oregon as Assistant Director of the Division of State Lands until his retirement in 1988.  Carl was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Stayton and the Stayton VFW.  He enjoyed his family, church and traveling.

Carl is survived by his daughters: Carla (Larry) Moberg and Karen (Gary Welander) Spiegel both of Salem; brothers: Darrell Brenna of Glasgow, MT, Clifton Brenna, and Kenneth Brenna, both of Livingston, MT; sister, Carine Shellrude of Sun City, AZ, grandchildren: Christian (Heather) Tinney, Joshua Spiegel, Travis Spiegel, and Debbie (Alex) Terrado, as well as 6 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita, grandson, Michael Moberg, and sister, Sheila Danes.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 1, 2015, at 11:00 am at Calvary Lutheran Church in Stayton.  Interment will be at Lone Oak Cemetery in Stayton.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Stayton VFW or Calvary Lutheran Church.  Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
