Camilla, 92, (or as she would say--“almost 93!”) passed
away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2015 in Sublimity,
surrounded by all of her seven children and their spouses.
Camilla was born in
Sublimity to Nicholas and Cecilia (Springer) Lulay. She was
raised and educated in Sublimity and was a member of the first
graduating class of St. Boniface High School.
As a young girl,
Camilla met the love of her life, Eugene Butler, they married
on July 13, 1943 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sublimity.
Together they enjoyed 55 years of marriage, until he preceded
her in death on September 24, 1998.
Camilla was a
bookkeeper for Lulay Brothers Lumber Company, co-founded by
her father, Nicholas and her Uncle Joe Lulay. Throughout the
years she continued her bookkeeping skills for several local
companies and was also a Small Business Owner.
Camilla was very
active in her community as a former member of St. Boniface
Altar Society, St. Boniface Grade School and Regis High School
PTA and school boards. She also was a former member of the
Santiam Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, a charter member
of the Santiam Golf Course, a member of the Red Hat Society,
and was very active with the Stayton Senior Center.
Camilla was an
accomplished artist most known for her oil paintings. She
enjoyed cake decorating, cooking and baking, sewing, playing
the organ, dancing, pinochle, bingo and traveling.
joy was spending time with her family. A special treat for
many years was her annual “Grandkids Picnic”.
Camilla is survived
by her children: Roseann Coyle, Jane (Andy) Heuberger, Nancy
Butler, Alice (Rex) Longfellow, Lou Ann (Ron) Ziglinski,
Martin (Danell) Butler, Dean (Lisa) Buter; sister: Velma Lulay
Russell; grandchildren: Jason & Bryan Coyle, Joanie
Wigginton, Jon Heuberger, Tiffany Siegmund, Katrina Lopez,
Jamie Dalke, Tiffany Rauser, Doug Longfellow, Amanda Miotke,
Wendy Kinsley, Jacob Butler, Jessica Bryan, Jacki, Jennifer,
Haley and Jordan Butler; 18 great-grandchildren and 1
great-great-grandson, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, infant son,
Dale, son-in-law, Jim Coyle, sister, Anne Mackie, and
brothers, Leonard, Orville, and Bernard Lulay.
The family would
like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Andy S. Carp,
Camilla’s special angel, Elizabeth at Elliott Residence,
Marian Estates and Serenity Hospice.
Viewing will be held
from 3-7 pm on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at North Santiam
Funeral Service, Stayton, with Rosary to follow at 7 pm at St.
Boniface Catholic Church, Sublimity. Mass of Christian Burial
will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 10:30 am at St.
Boniface Catholic Church in Sublimity, with interment to
follow at St. Boniface Cemetery in Sublimity. Donations may be
made to St. Boniface’s Catholic Church, Sublimity, or St.
Mary’s Catholic Church Remodeling Project, Shaw. Serving the
