Lillian M. (Hackman) Haas

Stayton - Albany Lillian our beloved mother and grandmother died peacefully at 96 years old on the evening of Wednesday, August 12, 2015. She was blessed to have spent her last eight years residing close to her family in Albany at the Mennonite Home. During her final days Lillian was graciously assisted by their compassionate nurses and staff both at the Mennonite Home and at Evergreen Hospice.

She was born in St. Lucas, IA and was one of twelve children born to Anna Reicks and Anton Hackman. At the age of 18 Lillian moved to Dubuque, IA where she met Alfred Haas. They were married on April 29, 1941. While in Dubuque they were blessed with two daughters, Roseann and Donna. Later the family moved to New Hampton, IA where they had a third daughter, Kathleen.

In 1956 the family moved to San Diego, CA where they lived until moving to Stayton, OR in 1975. Throughout her many years in Oregon she remained devoted to her faith and family until the end. In spite of struggles late in life her humor and optimism never wavered.

Lillian is survived by daughters: Roseann (Joe) Cowlishaw of Scio, OR; Donna Gillette of Keizer, OR and Kathleen Roberts of Keizer, OR; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; 1 sister and 2 brothers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred on July 3, 1996; 5 sisters and 3 brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Stayton, OR, where she was a member. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery, Stayton, OR. Donations may be made in her name to Evergreen Hospice in Albany, OR or Macular Degeneration. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
