Evelyn Arlene “Blondie” Jordan
March 19, 1923 – August 25, 2015

Our beautiful Mother is now in heaven

Stayton - Evelyn Arlene Jordan was born March 19, 1923 on the family farm in Mott, ND to John & Christine (Van Lishout) Thompson. She was the 8th of 9 children whom all have preceded her to heaven.

In 1936 the family moved to Oregon, bringing with them only what would fit in their small pick-up truck. They settled in Stayton where she lived most of her life. At age 17 Evelyn moved to Valley Springs, CA, and a year later moved to Burbank, CA. It was while living there that she enlisted in the US Navy (WAVES) in 1944. Evelyn served as a Seaman First Class. While stationed in Trenton, NJ she was an airplane mechanic working on P38's and Hellcats. In 1946 after she was honorably discharged Evelyn returned to Stayton and went to work at Paris Woolen Mill for the next 20 years.

In 1946 she married Durrel Jordan at the Lutheran Church in Salem, OR. He passed away in 1988. Evelyn was a very talented artist, painting many beautiful florals and landscapes. She also loved to China paint and make porcelain dolls and all their clothes. Her other passions were playing cards with her friends 2 -3 times a week.

Evelyn loved to watch Seattle Mariner's games, dancing and she loved Betty Boop. Evelyn enjoyed traveling. When she was 69 she sold her home and bought a motor home. Evelyn joined a caravan of Snowbirds and started off on the journey of a lifetime making many friends all over the United States. She had 10 wonderful years on the road and the time of her life. Evelyn loved life and lived it to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers; John, Alfred, Glen, Bill, Ernie and Ed, and sisters; Helen Core and Stella Lulay. Evelyn is survived by her son: Steve (Connie) Jordan of Stayton; daughters: Sheila (Chuck) Ruettgers of Mill City and Lynn (Terry) Ross of Mill City; grandchildren: Durrel Jordan, Stephanie Davis, Renee Ross and Shannon Ross; great-grandchildren: Brooke & Alli Jordan and Emma Ross; and many beloved nieces and nephews. You were the best Mom, now you are our Angel. We'll hold you in our hearts forever, until we meet again in Heaven.

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Calvary Lutheran Church 198 Fern Ridge Rd. Stayton. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
