Barbara Pietrok, age 87, died Aug. 5, 2015 in the Salem
Hospital. She was born Dec. 4, 1927 in Salem, Oregon to
parents, Wendell Peter Freres and Georgina Mable [Gehlen].
Junetta was predeceased by her only sibling, brother, Richard
Peter Freres of Stayton and two grandsons.
grew up in the Fern Ridge area east of Sublimity and married
Vincent Peter Pietrok, of Stayton on Oct. 16, 1946 in Stayton,
Oregon. Together they had four children. Junetta enjoyed
homemaking, raising and sewing for the children and canning
all manner of fruits and vegetables.
family moved from Stayton to a farm in the Turner area and
Junetta went to work for Meier and Frank in Salem, where she
worked for more than 30 years. After retiring, Junetta and
Vince began traveling the world. They were ambassadors with
the Friendship Force in Asian and European countries, as well
as Australia and New Zealand.
moving to Sublimity, she volunteered at the Stayton Historical
Museum, serving as President and Treasurer for many years. She
enjoyed maintaining scrapbooks of local news and family
history. Junetta worked relentlessly on family genealogy.
Junetta and Vince also volunteered to help deliver
Meals-On-Wheels to local residents.
is survived by her husband, Vincent, (They were married 69
years.) and by four children: Charlene Pierce of Sublimity,
OR, Doug Pietrok [Vera] of San Jose, CA, Sandra Chapman
[Loren] of Milwaukie, OR, and Joyce Larson [Larry] of Dupont,
WA., 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
