Formerly of Stayton,
OR - Don Nolan Benslay, 85, passed away December 24th in
Salem. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Charles and
Mary Benslay. Don was married to Mary Lea Mullins on
Nov. 11, 1952 in Coos Bay, Oregon. He served in the US
Army as a Corporal during the Korean Conflict.
He attended Oregon State University and received his Bachelor
and Master degrees in Pharmacology. Don was a member of
Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. He worked as a
Pharmacologist in Pharmaceutical Research for the Eli
Lilly Company in Indianapolis for 31 years before retiring in
2002. Together they moved to
Stayton. He enjoyed computers, assisting with Church
activities and reading, especially about political issues.
In addition to his
beloved wife, Mary of Salem, he is survived by his children,
Marian (Roger) Johnson of Maricopa, AZ, Charles (Liza) Benslay
of Bremerton, WA, David (Monthira) Benslay of Indianapolis,
IN, Garrett (Lisa) Benslay of Kingford, CA; 6
grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his; parents, brother, Richard; and
sisters, Charlene, Marian and Lois.
Funeral service with
military honors will be held Thurs. Dec. 29th at 2:00 pm at
Weddle Funeral Chapel, Stayton. Interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon.
