Wayne Moore Carter

September 20, 1927 February 4, 2016

Sublimity, OR - Wayne, 88, passed away surrounded by family, love and dignity at the age of 88, on February 4, 2016 following a brief illness. He leaves behind his children Ann Moore, Tom Carter, Ruth Carter and Jennifer Buchanan, his sister, Barbara C. Breuner, 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and some very close friends.

The son of Harley and Ruth Carter, he was born and raised in the Bay Area and spent many happy summers on the S-C family cattle ranch outside of Medford, OR. Wayne went to Berkeley High School, and attended Santa Clara University before meeting his future wife Jennifer Breuner and settling down to raise a family and work as a Manufacturer's Representative.

An avid fisherman, he purchased Santa Anita Lodge on the Rogue River and opened it up to family, friends and guests so all could share in his enchantment with the area. Later in life he moved to the Rogue River full time to run the Shasta Costa Lodge where he spent his days river guiding, working on his Lodge and enjoying the antics of his wonderful Labrador Retriever and constant companion, Bart.

He was known for his love of family, his loyalty as a friend, his insistence on being the ultimate gentleman at all times, his practice of giving away his prized possessions unselfishly, his ability to play golf, his appreciation of a story well told, his search for a good day on the river fishing, and his desire to learn and use the newest invention or most unusual product known to man. He will be greatly missed.

Donations are welcome and may be made to Hospice Care of the Northwest, 1500 NE Irving Street, Suite 200, Portland, OR 97232. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
