G. “Jerry” Max Hafner
October 4, 1958 – January 20, 2016

Lyons – Jerry, 57, died January 20 in Lyons. He was born the youngest of six children to Walter and Muriel (Gries) Hafner in Salem and lived most of his life in the Sublimity and Lyons area. Jerry helped out on the family farm, Silver Mountain Farms, all of his life. He worked as a welder for Littau Harvester for 22 years and the last 8 years at Valmont (Microflect).

Jerry was a member of Oregon Hunters Association. He enjoyed hunting, brewing beer, bike riding, hiking and mole trapping. Jerry was a loving husband and loving father to his three sons. He married Christine Bender on September 19, 1981 in Stayton.

Jerry is survived by his wife: Christine “Chris” Bender-Hafner of Lyons; sons: Cole (Heather) Hafner of Beaverton, Jedidiah Hafner (fiancé’ Prescilla Celino) of Portland, and Jack Hafner of Portland; grandson: Maxwell of Beaverton; sisters: Sue Sutton of Lyons and Peg (Larry) Swanton of Portland; brothers: John (Debbie) Hafner of Sublimity, Ted (Margaret) Hafner of Aumsville, Dan Hafner of Lyons and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Come celebrate and share memories about Jerry’s life with his family on Sunday, January 24, 2016 between 11:30 am and 2:30 pm at Anthony Hall 11758 Sublimity Rd SE Sublimity. Contributions may be made in his name to Mercy Corps or your local food bank. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
