Mae Rhea Latta

December 24, 1925 – April 5, 2016

Sublimity – Mae, 90, died April 5 in Sublimity. She was born in Grand River, IA and graduated from Leon High School in Iowa. In 1947, Mae married Robert (Bob) Latta of Davis City, IA. Mae and Bob lived most of their lives in Albany, later moving to Lapine. After Bob passed away in 2006, Mae moved into Marion Estates in Sublimity, where she lived until her death.

Mae and Bob loved to travel in their motor home, fish in Oregon’s lakes and streams, enjoy Bob’s participation as a musician, and endless family activities.  Mae worked for several years as a nurse’s aide in Albany. She was always a positive force within her large Irish family; energetic, caring, kind, with a “wicked” sense of humor, and a unique ability to win more than lose at the card games her family engaged in every weekend. Her spirit touched so many lives, both within her family and beyond.

Preceding her in death were her parents; Hoyle and Esther McConnell; brothers Maurice and Max McConnell; and sister Mildred Carrico Daugherty. Survivors include daughters: Bobbi (Dick) Poppe of Casa Grande, AZ; and Becki (Russ) Kaufman of Lebanon; brother: Jack McConnell of Portland: 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Edith McConnell, (Max’s widow) of Albany.

Communications with the family can be made to Bobbi at Becki Kaufman at 33840 Old Bellinger Scale Road, Lebanon, OR 97355.  No services will be held. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
