James "Jim" Silbernagel
April 4, 1935 - July 9, 2016

Lyons Jim, 81, died Saturday in Salem. He was born in Scio and lived all of his life around the Scio and Lyons area. Jim married Maurita Jaeger on April 4, 1959 in Mt. Angel, and treated her like a true lady, she preceded him in death on July 24, 2013. He worked as an equipment operator for Freres Lumber Co. for over 40 years.

Jim was very involved with the community, serving on Mari-Linn school board, the Regis Athletic Association board, the Regis Foundation Board, and the Lyons-Mehama Water District Budget Committee. He had a very strong faith and lived his faith in his life, being a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sublimity, the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Jim enjoyed farming all of his life as a side job and loved animals, especially his sheep. He was a humble man and very generous, by attending and helping out at community auctions and social benefits.

Jim is survived by children: Dan Silbernagel of Stayton, Karen (Mark) Strange of Molalla, Kelly (Casey) Namitz of Lyons, Marty Silbernagel of Salem, Brian (Maria) Silbernagel of Salem and Jude Silbernagel of Sublimity; brother: Larry Silbernagel of Scio; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters.

Recitation of Rosary will be Friday, July 15, 2016 at 7:00 pm and Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11:00 am both at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sublimity. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Regis High School or St. Mary Elementary School. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
